The Strangers with Special Guest Daryl Davis

No Cover

The Strangers came together in 1989. Initially called by that name because members came from different bands and had never played together before, the name stuck due to the bands revolving door policy of rotating singers and instrumentalists. Right from its first gig, it was obvious that the chemistry of the group worked - with a core group remaining constant and additional members brought in as required.

Since many of the members grew up in the 60s and 70s, their music is heavily informed by soul, roots rock and roll, blues, R&B, and, occasionally, jazz. In its full configuration, the band is a nine-piece group. Horns, guitars, keyboard, drums, and bass guitar accompany the distinct vocals and harmonies.

Daryl Davis is an international recording artist, actor, author and lecturer. He is considered to be one of the greatest Blues & Boogie Woogie and Blues Rock’n’Roll pianists of all time, having played with The Legendary Blues Band (formerly the Muddy Waters band) and Chuck Berry. As an Actor, Daryl has received rave reviews for his stage role in William Saroyan’s The Time of Your Life. Daryl has done film and television as well and had roles in the critically acclaimed 5-year HBO television series The Wire. Daryl is also featured in the documentary “Accidental Courtesy.”
