Songwriters Association of Washington (SAW)
SAW Songwriter sessions, featuring:
Three extraordinary musicians (all singers, songwriters, guitarists, bandleaders and producers) will perform some of their best songs. Despite their differences, they all write smart songs, have won a myriad of awards, and have a punk connection.
Parthenon Huxley: Rock and Roll for people who read.
Parthenon Huxley has been writing great songs and making compelling albums of “rock and roll for people who read.” for decades.
Known for his solo albums, his involvement in ELO Part II and The Orchestra, both offshoots of the Electric Light Orchestra. He collaborated with Mark Everett, of eels, to create a Top Ten Alternative hit. His collaboration with Kyle Vincent set a record for “bubbling under” the Billboard Hot 200 longer than any song in history and hit No. 1 in several markets.
He’s a guy who has never played by the rules, always following the mandate of great songs and songwriting. A gifted singer and harmonizer, he’s also a wonderfully compelling entertainer, even when making his pandemic home-made variety shows.Punk connection: His first solo recording (released under the pseudonym "Rick Rock" was the self-produced, self-financed single "Buddha, Buddha" / "Sputnik" (Big Groovy, 1983).
He has also made cameo appearances in several films including Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story and The Flintstones. During the pandemic,
Parth created the Pandemic Houseguy Show. Lately, he has been performing with his Ridiculous Band in the DC area.

Julia was raised on Peter, Paul & Mary, and from there somehow found her way to AC/DC, Miles Davis, Allen Toussaint, Joni Mitchell and the Stax Record catalogue. She loves and plays all kinds of music, from post-punk to New Age, with as many variants of indie/alternative bands as you can name.
She creates vivid pictures with her down-to-earth lyrics. Midwest Records wrote about her debut solo album, “Motel,” “Smart songs written and delivered with a rocker’s heart; you can taste the dust from the back roads she takes you down.”

Punk connection: Julia played bass in the San Francisco punk band The Gargoyles.
Diana, a musical icon in the DC area, plays a wide variety of music and writes in many different genres.
Her bands include Tru Fax & the Insaniacs (punk), Honky Tonk Confidential (retro/alt country), the Fabulettes (60s girl group) and duo Snarky Sisterz (Americana/pop/country/whatever). She is also a classically trained guitarist (you can watch her 200 consecutive live classical pieces played during Covid on her youtube channel).
Like Parthenon and Julia, Diana writes intelligent songs, and she tends to write witty, satiric and funny songs, on her own or with Insaniacs guitarist and co-writer David Wells. Tru Fax & the Insaniacs is one of DC’s original and seminal punk bands (founded in 1979), best known for the iconic “Washingtron.” Here’s the news: Tru Fax will be at Hank Dietle’s on Sat., May 27, and they will include songs from their brand new release, Artifax Part 1.
