Steinman and Mitchell, two musicians from the DMV who have been intertwined in a musical journey for over 45 years…
It started in 1979 when Jon Steinman joined Mitch Mitchell along with Jonny Domino and Kim Hutchison to form the Standards, through the 80s when they both played with Going, Going, Gone, then through the late 90s with the establishment of Jonny & The Stingrays. Throughout, Mitchell and Steinman have been a potent and at times an inseparable team.
In 2013, The Stingrays broke up and Mitchell rejoined Going, Going, Gone. Steinman formed the Lifters along with Bruce Katzu, Tony Brown, and Jim “Cookie” Cooke.
When needed, the Mighty, Mighty Mitch Mitchell steps in to sub for Jim Cooke. Mitchell and Steinman have continued their decades-old friendship, and they also work together as a duo playing Steinman’s original material as well as a diverse group of covers. Mitchell remains an active part of the Lifters filling in for Cooke whenever needed.
