Esther. Keith, & Dean will play a variety of acoustic material not too loudly. Keith is a veteran guitarist/soloist and Esther plays rhythm guitar and sings some swing and roots material, with Keith adding a soulful bottom end.

Esther Haynes is an early jazz and American roots singer and rhythm guitarist based in the Washington, DC area. Her third album, Moon Country (2013), featuring Keith Grimes on guitar and other noted DC-area musicians, received a Washington Area Music Award (Wammie) in 2013. Her debut CD entitled Esther Haynes (2001), received a Wammie nomination, and her second release entitled Approach Note (2004) garnered favorable online reviews. She has also received 12 Wammie awards for big band/swing and jazz vocals.

Esther studied professional music and voice at Berklee College of Music, graduating summa cum laude in 1989. Among her vocal instructors have been Mili Bermejo, Maggie Scott, Bob Stoloff, Sharon Brown and the late jazz singer Pam Bricker, who also performed in the DC area.

Keith has played a major role in DC’s music scene having played for five years as the lead guitarist and co-musical director for DC’s world-famous vocal stylist, the late Eva Cassidy. Keith’s masterful guitar work is heard on nearly all of Eva’s phenomenally successful recordings.

Keith has also performed with DC’s “Godfather of Go-Go” Chuck Brown, the Nighthawks, and Bill Kirchen. Keith also plays regularly in area clubs with the Built  4 Comfort Band.

Dean Dalton Before this collaboration with Keith, Dean Dalton worked with many local jazz and blues luminaries including Linwood Taylor, Anthony "Swamp Dog" Clark, Clarence "The Bluesman" Turner, John Bell, Reggie Wayne Morris, Mike Westcott, James Mabry, 4 The Groove, Elliott Levine, Glenn Wiser, Tom Kitchen, Karl Stoll & The Danger Zone, The Mary Shaver & Mike Tash Band, Bad Influence, The Liz Springer Trio and Built 4 Comfort.
