Charlie Owen was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Washington, D.C. He satisfied his early musical cravings, playing trumpet in elementary school as well as the high school marching band and orchestra.
In his twenties, Charlie was a member of the house band at the Stardust Lounge in Waldorf, MD, playing dance sets between national acts - The Everly Brothers, Dennis Yost & The Classics Four, Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge, Barbara Mandrell and many others.
1981 found Charlie relocating to the San Francisco Bay area and it was not too long before he was fronting a great R&B outfit, The Dynatones. During his tenure in the Dynatones, the band toured nationally, opening for James Brown, Etta James, Roomful of Blues, Bonnie Bramlett, The Drifters and others.
Now, based in Annapolis, Maryland, Charlie has released a fine CD, "Worth The Wait". It features many of San Francisco's finest sidemen who provide a perfect setting for the Soul of this elegant singer.
