Charlie Bryant
5:30pm • Happy Hour Prices! • NO COVER!
Sings and plays mid-century modern singer-songwriter music. What’s that? Don’t ask him; he made it up.
Charlie writes (and covers) songs about love, loss, hope, bewilderment, wistful longing, busted romance, modern technology, existential dread, and (of course) drinking.
If country music is three chords and the truth, then what Charlie’s after is four chords and the ambiguity. And you can't spell ambiguity without Am.

Munford & Cohen
5:00pm • No Cover • Happy Hour ‘til 8pm
They don’t just play classic rock. They are classic rock. In the Summer of Love, 1967, Munford sang the million-selling psychedelic record "Incense and Peppermints" by the Strawberry Alarm Clock (who toured with the Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield and the Who among others). But while they play the fun, familiar songs of the Stones, the Meters, the Ronettes and others, Munford and Cohen is no cover band. With a guitar, a bass, 2 voices and a rhythm machine of loops, delays and programmed drums they breathe new life into old (and some current and original) tunes with a fresh sound that favors deep grooves over high volume for a new take on an old school vibe. Call it fresh classic rock.

Soul Crackers
9:00pm - $20 Tickets on Eventbrite and at the door if available
Take some of the greatest party music ever made, make sure it’s sung & played by a band that has made a career out of belting out those sweet soul sounds - and you've got yourself a REAL good time — meet the SOUL CRACKERS!
Their music encompasses Memphis & Motown soul, and features timeless songs by artists like Otis Redding, Average White Band, Martha & The Vandellas & Stevie Wonder among many others. This is the music that brings all ages and personalities together to a dance party. The SOUL CRACKERS grew up with this music and honor it with the legitimacy of a crackerjack soul horn band from the 60's.
Lead vocalist Tommy Lepson has won numerous "BEST VOCALIST" awards (WAMMIES) from the Washington Area Music Association and is considered a singer's singer. Possessing a stunning and powerful voice, Tommy conveys all the joy and passion that makes this music come alive. His blue-eyed soulful voice is world class. He is joined by The Too Much Sisters — two stellar vocalists Anita King and Caz Gardiner, and together they pull off those beautiful Motown harmonies.
On guitar is Paul Bell, who played with Nils Lofgren and The Nighthawks. The horn section includes Chris Hutton (trumpet) and Wayne Sulc (sax), and completing the band are Spencer Hoopes (keyboards); Chuck Sullivan (drums); and Ronnie Newmyer (bass) who have been a solid rhythm section for decades. This is a tight soulful 9-piece band that will literally drive you to the dance floor with their signature medleys and inspire you with three-part harmonies and amazing solos.
This band is the real deal.
Formed in 1982, the SOUL CRACKERS were a full time performing powerhouse on the East Coast bar circuit for many years. Headlining shows such as the Adams Morgan Day Festival and clubs like the Bayou and the Wax Museum led to a command performance at the White House in 1994.
They have played every type of function possible and specialize in clubs, parties, anniversaries, corporate events, weddings and festivals. Soul Crackers has recorded several CDs, including: LIVE at the Barns of Wolf Trap (2003); Soul Crackers, 30 Years of Soul (2011); Soul Crackers, 30 Years of Soul, Volume 2 (2015); and A Soulful Christmas released in December 2018 — all available on ITunes and CD Baby.

Corey Arceneaux & the Zydeco Hot Peppers
6:00pm • $20 • tickets on Eventbrite and at the door if available
Corey Arceneaux and the Zydeco Hot Peppers
Corey Arceneaux is a Louisiana born and bred zydeco accordionist and band leader. He learned the accordion at a young age and formed his first band while still in high school. His great-uncles, musicians Rodney Bernard and the legendary Fernest Arceneaux, were his inspirations. As he found his style, Clifton Chenier and Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural, Jr. became his favorites, and Buckwheat also became a mentor and friend.
Corey and the Zydeco Hot Peppers perform internationally and domestically – wowing dignitaries and crowds at special events, festivals, clubs and Mardi Gras balls through the years. They also recorded five studio albums. Simultaneously, Corey has been a radio DJ for about 30 years, which has allowed him to promote Zydeco and the Creole culture of Southwest Louisiana to a larger audience. Currently, he hosts “Hot Sauce Saturday” on KFXZ/Z105.9 FM/www.z1059.com on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central time.
After moving to Virginia, Corey connected with area musicians with experience in and a passion for Zydeco music. They jammed, and everything came together like a pot of gumbo. The talented Zydeco Hot Peppers are Ben Holmes (drummer), Doug Bell (guitar), Gene Monroe (bass) and Pat Clark (scubboard/frottoir).
Ben Holmes started playing Zydeco in the 1980s. He’s toured and recorded with Al Rapone and the Zydeco Express and the Grammy-winning Queen Ida and the Bon Temps Zydeco band. He’s taken Zydeco on the road from Australia to Africa. Ben plays various genres, but he has a genuine love for Louisiana music styles.Since 1995, Ben has played with DC favorites, such as The Hula Monsters, King Soul, Zydeco Crayz, Savoir Faire Cajun Band, The Canecutters, Canebrake Cajun Band and The Longtimers.
Doug Bell is a veteran musician in the DC area and has performed across the eastern U.S. for nearly 25 years. He has played in bands such as Zydeco Crayz, The Louisiana Sugar Kings, Charlie Sayles and Union Mission Blues, Savoir Faire Cajun Band and Canebreak Cajun Band. His passion is for authentic southern American roots music, especially the dance styles of south Louisiana.
Gene Monroe comes from a musical family and has been a working bassist for the past 30 years. He has performed with artists such as Billy Thompson, King Soul, The Grandsons, Skyla Burrell, Daryl Davis, Shrimp City Slim, Little Bit A’ Blues, Mike Westcott, J.B. Beverley, Deane Kern and Hard Swimming Fish, to name just a few. He has played well-known clubs and festivals both in the DC region and up and down the Atlantic Coast, Memphis, Chicago, San Diego and Japan.
Pat Clark is a professional drummer, guitarist, and private music teacher from Silver Spring, Maryland. As a kid, he went to New Orleans, Louisiana every year for Jazz Fest so Zydeco is in his bones. Pat has been influenced from artists such as Taylor Swift, Dashboard Confessional, Stanton Moore and Los Lobos.

The Gayle Harrod Band
2:00pm • $10-$20 suggested donation
Some bands create a musical story that engages the listener, and The Gayle Harrod Band exemplifies this approach. The performance style of the band is characterized by empathy, commitment, and freedom from self-consciousness. Band leader, vocalist, and songwriter Gayle Harrod demonstrates this level of performance on The Gayle Harrod Band’s debut release, Temptation.
Gayle's enjoyment is evident in “In the Deep Dark Night,” a New Orleans second line piece. Her vocal power is showcased on the Gospel-inspired Texas Blues track “Temptation.” On “The In Between,” her warmth and vulnerability resemble Bonnie Raitt. She combines grit and defiance with warm, smoky tones, creating an intimate listening experience. Her songwriting is personal and reflects deep insights into her own experiences and feelings.
Temptation is produced by Buddy Speir and recorded at 38 North Studio in Falls Church, VA. It highlights Gayle’s varied musical influences, blending Blues styles from various regions along with elements of Motown, R&B, and Soul. The Gayle Harrod Band delivers Blues music with honesty, emotion, and storytelling rooted in experience.
The recording features musicians from the DMV region. Gayle values both talent and chemistry in selecting band members. Original band members include Stan Turk (guitar) and Chuck Ferrell (drums), with guest performers Jonathan Sloane, Sol Roots, Bobby Thompson (guitarists), Christopher Brown (bassist), and Brian Simms (piano and organ). Producer Buddy Speir also contributes to the instrumentation. Background vocals are provided by Mary Ann Redmond, Dusty Rose, and The Voices of Faith of the First Baptist Church of Baltimore Choir. Additional musicians include Rachelle Danto (harmonica) and The Beltway Horns: Greg Boyer (trombone), Brad Clements (trumpet), and Brent Birckhead (tenor sax). Their CD "Temptation" was selected to represent the DC Blues Society in the 2024 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN for “Best Self-Produced CD” and has been chosen as a finalist by The Blues Foundation.

Johnny Burgin featuring Bruce Ewan
8:00pm • $10 Tickets on Eventbrite and at the door if still available
Johnny performs over 200 shows a year in Europe, Japan and coast to coast in the US. Johnny grew up in Mississippi and went to University of Chicago at 18, but ended up attending "blues university". Johnny met a DJ on the college radio station who took him to see the Howlin' Wolf style singer Tail Dragger on the West Side of Chicago. Tail Dragger took Johnny under his wing and gave him his first professional gigs, and from there Johnny learned quickly and went on to tour or gig with blues legends such as Pinetop Perkins, Sam Lay and Billy Boy Arnold. He's been praised by the Cascade Blues Association for his "stunning guitar playing-- the pure Chicago styled sound".
Johnny’s played on dozens of records as a sideman and as a leader, he’s released ten CDs on Delmark and Vizztone records. His most recent efforts are Johnny Burgin Live, which features special guests Charlie Musselwhite, Nancy Wright and Rae Gordon and debuted at #3 on the Living Blues Blues Radio Chart. No Border Blues: Japan came from Johnny’s many tours and long relationships in Japan and is the first American compilation of the underground Japanese blues scene. Vintage Guitar stated: “Stellar fretwork, gloriously loose, earthy and immediate Chicago blues”. He was nominated for a BMA for Best Traditional Blues CD of 2017 for Howlin' at Greaseland, a Howlin' Wolf tribute, and by Blast Blast for Best Live Release in 2020.

Harmonica player Bruce Ewan is respected as a blues musician in his native town of Washington, D.C., where he has been active musically for more than 25 years and has been called “a harmonica wizard” by the Washington Post.
Since 1995, Bruce Ewan has been part of the international blues scene as well, touring Europe and Latin America to great acclaim. In 2003, he and his brother, guitarist Bobby Radcliff, played the Granada Jazz Festival, accompanied by The Blues Blasters, widely regarded as Spain’s top blues band. In the United States, Bruce has shared the stage with artists like John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, and Carey Bell; recorded with Big Joe & the Dynaflows, and performed in venues from New York to Florida. He has also made joint appearances with his older brother, blues guitarist Bobby Radcliff.
Bruce Ewan’s virtuosity on the harmonica stands out among his peers and competitors. He plays complex solos that combine flurries of notes, changes of tonality, and a keen sense of timing. Thoroughly schooled in the history and traditions of the blues in general and the blues harp in particular, he is a master of both diatonic and chromatic harmonica. His vocals, too, are faithful to the subtleties and nuances of authentic-sounding blues.
Bruce's repertoire is not limited to a rotation of the most common or clichéd blues. Instead, he reaches deep into the blues heritage for an intriguing blend of obscure as well as familiar blues tunes originated by great blues harmonica players. He especially prides himself on his work on the chromatic harmonica, augmenting the “Chicago style” of Little Walter and George “Harmonica” Smith with jazzy inflections.

Caleb Stine is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist. Though he makes his living as a folk musician, Stine wouldn’t call what he does a job; he considers it a calling. His work is part-mystic poet, part-traveling preacher. As Americana UK observed, “Stine’s upfront personality [is] seeking to make a personal connection with everyone in the venue.” The albums and shows are the tip of the iceberg; to get to where he is today, Stine has put in decades of daily practice, day jobs, and deep commitment to the craft of music. “There’s an element of endurance to almost everything I do,” says Stine, who plays 100+ shows a year, has released 14 albums of original music, and shares a series of viral Instagram videos called “Caleb Stine Says Keep Going,” encouraging followers to dig deep into a creative practice of their own. Over the course of his career, he’s seen the music industry collapse and restructure multiple times, but it’s his love of music that’s allowed him to outlast so many peers and institutions along the way. And it’s this love of music that shines through his shows, imbuing them with a communal joy that spans generations and celebrates life at its most essential.

The Buds
2:00pm • $10 • Tickets on Eventbrite and at the door if still available
THE BUDS
The Buds formed several years ago as a refuge from the members’ other gigging bands, gathering weekly in a living room to play the kinds of deep cuts and originals that musicians play for themselves while hanging with other musicians. Now they’ve decided it’s time to bring the living room to you. Given their diverse backgrounds, you can expect anything from roots, to blues, to rockabilly, country and power pop. It’s all there.
The Buds are:
· Mark Stutso on drums, vocals (The Nighthawks, Mark Wenner’s Blues Warriors)
· Bruce Moyer on guitar, vocals (40 Dollar Fine, Pile O’ Rocks)
· Buddy Griffin on pedal steel and guitar, vocals (Cairo Fred, The McDuffees)
· Edward O’Connell on keyboards, vocals (BandHouse Gigs veteran, The McDuffees)
· Matt Spielman on bass, vocals (BandHouse Gigs and Newmyer Flyer veteran, Flatbroke)

The sound is unique and captivating, drawing a loyal following as we expand our musical bounds that have no limits. " Shall we go, you and I, while we can....."

Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass
5:00pm • $15 • Tickets on Eventbrite and at the door if still available
Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass
Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass continue to be deeply rooted in tradition but look to the future with enthusiasm and anticipation. The group’s latest release, Bluegrass Troubadour, was nominated for IBMA’s Album of the Year and earned significant chart action, with the song Blink of an Eye spending several months at the #1 spot on the Bluegrass music charts and was also nominated for IBMA Song of the Year.
Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass play powerful, unadorned, and intense traditional bluegrass. There is no hybrid or genre-bending music here. Their combination of instrumentation and vocals convey the energy and emotion of classic bluegrass and country music. Danny’s lead vocals will captivate your senses, so much so that many prominent musicians, including Alison Krauss, have considered Danny as one of their favorite singers. His voice combines powerful range and soulful blues with a sound like no one else in bluegrass today.
Since Danny’s father, Bob Paisley (founder of Southern Grass), passed away in 2004, Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass have made their niche in the bluegrass world, producing consecutive chart-topping albums. The group has been given over 20 Bluegrass Music Award Nominations and won the 2009 IBMA Song of the Year for Don’t Throw Mama’s Flowers Away. In 2024, Danny Paisley joined an elite group of vocalists to be awarded the IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year for the fourth time - an achievement bestowed only to three others in the history of Bluegrass music.
With Danny Paisley on guitar, Southern Grass continues the family tradition by adding Danny’s son Ryan on mandolin, the next generation of up-and-coming pickers. Southern Grass continues the rich musical heritage started by Bob Paisley and Ted Lundy with Lundy’s sons T.J. (Fiddle) and Bobby (Bass and Vocals). T.J. Lundy is a highly respected fiddler bridging the gap between old-time fiddling and bluegrass music. Bobby Lundy is also a renowned multi-instrumentalist who has gained attention for his unique bass style. Southern Grass also includes Dean Phillips on banjo.
Danny Paisley, born in Landenberg, PA, in 1959, grew up listening to the music his father Bob played and enjoyed hearing the sounds of classic bluegrass like Red Allen, Mac Martin, Bill Monroe, the Stanleys, Reno and Smiley, and the Osbornes. In addition to old-time mountain music and traditional country music. Once you hear Danny sing, it is no surprise that he lists George Jones and Vern Gosdin as major influences in his singing.
Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass continue to carry on a legacy set forth over six decades ago, gathering fans at each event; Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass look forward with renewed energy as they bring their unique sound to audiences near and far.

Angie Miller & Tony Denikos

You may have seen acoustic artist Angie Miller performing her original music at clubs, coffeehouses, festivals, and colleges throughout the mid-Atlantic region where she has carved out her reputation as a performer and songwriter who knows "how to capture an audience," as washington post's Maria Villafana says. Angie currently hosts a songwriter showcase in Annapolis – “Second Monday at 49 West” – and loves being able to celebrate the wealth of talent this area has to offer.
Angie has appeared in concert with international artists such as Richie Havens, Nils Lofgren, Aimee Mann, Jerry Jeff Walker, David Wilcox and Marcia Ball. An award winning, poetic, witty and sometimes gritty songsmith who can make you laugh out loud, just as a tear rolls down your cheek. He delivers his songs of real life, love, hardship and humor with an ever engaging command of stage and musicianship. But he truly is a vocalist at heart. Richard Green & Scott Mattern
5:30pm • NO COVER! • Happy Hour 4-8
“executing” classic blues songs and delivering rambling, inappropriate commentary.
Green has infested the East Coast blues scene for nearly five decades. He gained notoriety in the mid-70s as leader of the Charlottesville Allstars, cited by Rolling Stone as “just about the best blues band in the Southeast.” RS made particular note of Green’s reading of Muddy Waters’
“Forty Days and Forty Nights” as “an expression of desolation imbued with Biblical wrath.”
Green and Allstars colleague Doug Jay went on to form DC’s Choirboys (along with Dietle’s jefe Thomas Bowes), running through the mid-90s, until the need to feed a growing family propelled him through a series of “soul-sucking big-boy jobs.” He continued to work sporadically as a sideman, briefly resurfaced in the early 2000s in the House of Beauty, along with Bowes, Louie Newmyer, and Jim Steele, and led the Allstars through a series of reunions from 2006-2018.
Decades of noise exposure gradually eroded Green’s hearing to the point where, in 2018, he decided that he could no longer reliably perform with bands.
When the pandemic hit, Green began livestreaming solo sets and now has reemerged, cicada-like, to once again inflict desolation and biblical wrath on an unsuspecting public.
Scott Mattern
DC-area native Scott Mattern is a blues and jazz guitarist who has been playing local clubs and concerts since the mid-1970s. Scott is known for his remarkable range, easily toggling between raw blues, jump swing, and classic jazz styles. He has played and recorded with Chris Polk, Ursula Ricks, the Moonlighters, Steve Potter, Flatfoot Sam and the Educated Fools, Fast Eddie and the Slowpokes and many others, and has toured with guitarist/vocalist Deborah Coleman throughout the United States and Europe. Currently he is a member of the blues/rock band Exit 10 and performs in duo with guitarist/vocalist Richard Green

Paramount Jazz Orchestra
5:00 - 7:30PM • $10-$20 suggested donation
Paramount Jazz Orchestra
Once upon a time, the artistic creativity of musicians and technology came together to create perhaps the most prolific and amazing change in music the world has known—and all while alcohol was illegal! That would be in the 1920’s when radio, sound movies, music recording technology, and music publishing coincided with the northern migration of people for jobs. The blacks, whites, the new immigrants, and the long time citizens all took part in the synergy and that was dawn of jazz. The American Dream visited music.
Meet an orchestra full of curators—The Paramount Jazz Orchestra. This band has been sharing hot pre-swing jazz since the 1980’s. Their arrangements are vintage and often transcriptions of famous recordings. The ten piece orchestra plays the hit songs of the era as done by the likes of early Duke Ellington, Bix Biederbecke, Fletcher Henderson, Ray Noble, Glen Gray, Cab Calloway and Isham Jones. It is the next best thing to a time machine.

DC blues veteran Matthew Sedgley locks in the groove on drums and percussion. Saxophonist Chris Watling puts out a sound so meaty and memorable that he is in demand all over as a guest artist and session player. Moe Nelson holds down the low end on upright bass but has been known to break out the ukulele. Join The Grandsons as they move and shake into their 3rd decade in the world of rock and roll!
